Moving outside home without a mask is criminal and attracts a two-month prison sentence, so is escaping from a quarantine or isolation facility.
This is according to new Ministry health rules included in The Public Health (Control of COVID – 19) Rules, 2021 released on July 1st 2021.
“Every person shall, at all times, while outside his or her place of residence, wear a facial mask, a person who contravenes this rule, commits an offence and is liable, on conviction, to imprisonment for a period not exceeding two months,” states one of the rules.
About escape from quarantine: “Where a person who is confined in a place designated for isolation or quarantine for COVID – 19 escapes from the place…commits an offence and is liable, on conviction, to imprisonment for two months.”
The rules are meant to supplement the directives given by President Yoweri Museveni while instituting a no movement lockdown on June 18.
